From time to time, SCAC publishes books under its own name or under its imprint called “One Story Books.” The first was “Five Square Miles” a short story by Kathleen Tudor, illustrated by Lio Lo (opposite). SCAC had 200 copies of the book printed in soft and hard cover by Gaspereau Press. The book sold out.
The second was "The Rock Before the Door" in 2013. Originally a handmade book by Thomas Smith Hopkins, a sea captain from Barrington Passage, this poem written in the early 1900's was later illustrated by his daughter Jane. The book was passed down in the family to Marsha Goodwin who showed it to SCAC Board Member Kim Truchan as she was collecting artefacts for the Shelburne County Arts Archive. She envisioned a published version, and with the help of SCAC, the book was published. It also sold out.
SCAC partnered with Boularderie Island Press in 2019 to put together and publish Salt and Wild: A Shelburne County Anthology. E. Alex Pierce and Susan Hoover edited the 260-page collection of prose and poetry by 25 local writers, many of whom attended writing workshops supported by SCAC.
