SCAC assists in the recording of music, the making of music videos and other musical projects with a local connection. Recordings are usually released with the SCAC Records label. The first was a compilation of the music entered and performed in the Arts Council's Youth Songwriting Contest. The second (available locally) is a full length recording by local blues musician Bob Vacon recorded at Alex Buchanan's HarbourTone Studios in Shelburne. Since then, SCAC has supported many more full length recordings by various local musicians and groups. Even after the studio closed, SCAC continues to support local music projects.
Applications are accepted postmarked on or before the two annual deadlines - April 15 and September 15. Applications consist of a short project description, a budget of the project revenues and expenses (showing a need for SCAC funding and naming the amount you are requesting from SCAC) and a sample of work. Applications can be mailed to the address on the contact page of this website.
